India is one of the main exporters of furniture and decoration accessories but the local market is buying more and more imported home products. This demand mainly comes from upper classes which want to differentiate themselves from the other consumers.
Nevertheless, most of these imported items actually come from China and Malaysia. European and American items represent an insignificant percentage of market shares.
So as to compete with this new trend, several Indian vendors open their own factories abroad, especially in South-East Asia.
